DEAN Schofield hopes Warriors can finally ‘craic’ their away day misery when Worcester return to Aviva Pre-miership action next weekend.
The Sixways side, who have not won a league game on the road since New Year’s Day 2012, head to struggling London Irish next Saturday (3pm) for the home club’s eagerly-anticipated St Patrick’s Day match.
Club captain Schofield has his sights set on Warriors being party-poopers in front of an anticipated crowd of 20,000 partying Exiles fans.
He said: “It’s a party day for them and it is their biggest day of the season because of the celebrations. That will put even more pressure on them and it won’t be a party atmosphere on the pitch.
“We’re looking forward to playing in front of 20,000 fans and we’re desperate to come away with a win. It’s going to be a great match against London Irish. We will go there, pull our socks up and hopefully come away with a victory.
“They’re a dangerous team and have a lot of excellent strike-runners. They’ve been in good form recently and are still fighting to avoid relegation so it’s a massive game for them.
“We’re playing a good style of rugby and it's really important we keep the momentum going for the rest of the campaign. We’ve got to finish well and set a marker down for next season.”
Meanwhile, Schofield was impressed with the supporters’ club’s recent ‘meet the players’ event, saying it was good to take on board what the fans had to say.
He added: “The players met with supporters last week and we had some good conversations.
“It’s great to hear what the fans have to say as they come and watch us every week. We’re fortunate in rugby to have a close relationship with the fans.”
