MIKE Symons could be fit to return for Worcester City against Boston United tomorrow (3pm) just two weeks after suffering an ankle injury.

The striker is rated as 70-30 to be involved against the Pilgrims at St George’s Lane after making quick progress following the knock he sustained in the 5-0 defeat at Halifax.

Having their top-scorer back available again would be a major boost to Worcester who have been beset by injuries recently.

Manager Carl Heeley said: “Symmo had a bit of treatment on Tuesday but when he puts a lot of pressure on the area he still feels it a bit.

“I have not ruled him out for the weekend. I would say he’s 70-30 in favour of being fit, so we are optimistic.”

However, left-back Ellis Deeney will miss the Blue Square Bet North clash after damaging his ankle against Vauxhall Motors last Saturday.

Centre-half Jacob Rowe is still strugging with tendonitis in his knee, while left-sided player Danny Edwards missed training this week with a virus.

But Worcester can call on new signing Kieron Morris after the 18-year-old winger joined from League One side Walsall on loan until the end of the season.

City aim to end a run of five straight defeats and register their first success on home soil in 2013.

They have an excellent record against Boston at the Lane, having won their last three meetings, and defeated the Lincolnshire outfit 2-1 at York Street in October with goals from Matt Breeze and Alex Meechan.

But, with goal difference separating the sides in the table, Heeley is concentrating on securing a much-needed three points.

“We have just got to get a win, throw the shackles off and enjoy the game,” he said.

“We haven’t become a bad team, the players are just in a poor run and their confidence is low.

“They need to relax and express themselves and the results will come.”
