TWO Worcestershire eight-ball pool players are preparing to represent their country on the international stage after earning places in the England squad.
Darrell Bareham and Sarah Nicklin both qualified for the national squad after successfully finishing in the top eight out of 64 at trials in Great Yarmouth and now join the eight retained players.
The pair secured their places in Norfolk by finishing in the top seven ranked players in region three of the English Pool Association after successful seasons with Worcestershire.
Bareham, back in the England set-up just two years after returning from a four-year break from the sport, plays for the county men’s ‘A’ team that finished third in their division.
The 36-year-old will now return to Great Yarmouth on April 13 and 14 in a bid to make the cut to play for England in the World Championships in Blackpool later this year.
Nicklin, also 36, is a member of the Worcestershire ladies team that finished runners-up behind Staffordshire in 2012.
It is her third time in the squad and she will be in Great Yarmouth in May for further trials ahead of the world championships.
