CAPTAIN Carlos Fernandez says team chemistry has been key to Worcester Wolves’ success this year.
The University of Worcester-based club have won their last eight British Basketball League matches to climb to third in the table and only missed out on a place in the BBL Trophy final by just seven points over two games against Leicester Riders.
With their place in the end-of-season play-offs long secure, the aim now is to ensure a strong finish to the campaign.
Having endured a turbulent start to the season, with Sherrad Prezzie-Blue and Kai Williams not joining the team until December, Fernandez feels the players have gelled well.
“We were really looking forward to making it to the final of the BBL Trophy so it was a big disappointment for us but we know how to come back which is important,” the Spaniard said.
“After a tough loss, we stuck together and we got two important wins last weekend. Now we have to forget the Trophy and focus on the regular season and trying to get to the play-offs as strong as we can.
“We have to keep this momentum going. I think that has been the key, the chemistry we have and playing as a team. If we keep doing that we can do big things.”
Fernandez added: “It’s been a weird season so far because Prezzie-Blue was here late and Alex Owumi had to play point guard for a bit. Then Kai joined us and I had to play point guard.
“We have made some adjustments and I think we are in good form.”
