I THINK the basketball being played by Worcester Wolves at the moment is the best I have seen in my time at the club.
Having won eight British Basketball League games in a row, we are also probably playing the best of any team in the country.
We’ve shown that by beating Leicester Riders away in the second leg of the BBL Trophy semi-final.
However, even though it was a close tie in the end and we beat them at their place, we really didn’t perform to the best of our ability over the two legs, which we lost 148-141 on aggregate.
We were all hurting because we felt we didn’t do ourselves any justice within those games. We wanted to remember that hurt and actually go out and make somebody pay for it.
I felt we did that exceptionally well last weekend, starting off by demolishing London Lions 94-76 on Friday.
Then we absolutely hammered Cheshire Phoenix, who had recently beaten Newcastle, 121-90 on Sunday.
It was total domination from the team at both ends of the floor.
We shot the ball exceptionally well, defensively we were very tough and made it comfortable and easy for ourselves.
I think the players have done a great job in recovering from where we were at the start of the season.
Things have gradually come together now and players fully understand their roles within the team. I’ve been delighted with the way the guys have responded.
It’s tremendous to have jumped up to third place in the BBL, we finished there last year so it would be nice to finish there again.
Right now it’s all about us continuing to play well and trying to win as many games as we possibly can.
Our run-in is very tough because we have still got Newcastle Eagles to play, Plymouth Raiders twice and Leicester again.
But if we can continue to play the way we have been of late I’m quite confident about winning more matches than we lose.
The injury to Sherrad Prezzie-Blue is getting better and better with every day so I am pretty sure we can sustain it and that’s what we want to try and do.
We want to know that once we get into the play-offs we are at the peak of our form and really give ourselves a better chance than we did last year of progressing to the final rounds.
Although we don’t have a match this weekend, some of the players will be off to the British Universities and Colleges Championships in Leeds.
Arnas Kazlauskas, Stan Ocitti, Carlos Fernandez, Prezzie, Kalil Irving and Harry Turner are all involved.
Otherwise, it will be a chance for players to rest some niggles before we face Sheffield Sharks a week tomorrow.
