WORCESTER City have been told their Blue Square Bet North match at Halifax on Saturday will take place at the hosts’ Shay Stadium.
There had been suggestions the fixture could be switched after Halifax moved last weekend’s game against Stalybridge Celtic to Rochdale’s Spotland ground because their own pitch was unplayable.
However, the Yorkshire club yesterday announced they would be returning to the Shay following a period of dry weather in the region. They have also cancelled a junior rugby match that was due to take place on the surface in order to protect it.
A statement on the Halifax website said: “Following discussions between all the relevant parties, Halifax confirm the home fixture against Worcester City will be played at the Shay Stadium on Saturday, March 2 with a 3pm kick-off.
“The discussion was taken following a dry spell of over a week and with more dry if cold weather forecasted, the postponement of a junior rugby game and significant specific work on the pitch from the groundstaff.”
- City’s supporters’ club are running a coach to Saturday’s match. It leaves St George’s Lane at 8.30am and seats cost £20. To book, call Keith Chambers on 07712-457698 ot 01905-358193.
