WE are hoping that Adam Webster might play before the end of the year.
It depends on how he reacts but he's not going to be properly fit for six to eight weeks after coming back so we won't see the best of him until February.
Adam has had to have an injection in his ankle. He's got some tendon problems on the other side of his ankle that were probably done in the same challenge against Kidderminster Harriers.
Hopefully the injection will clear that up and he will be back doing his own training tomorrow so it's a slight setback but it just shows what an horrendous injury it was.
I think I read somewhere, perhaps in the Non-League newspaper, that it wasn't as bad as first feared so I don't know where they got that from!
It's the middle of November now and it's looking doubtful whether he will play again before the end of this month and he suffered the injury on August 5.
It's a big blow for the lad and for the team and myself.
Adam was reasonably happy until he had this. He was making reasonable progress and was on schedule but he's had this problem for a short time now.
He was suffering some pain for three or four weeks and it wasn't getting any better and when he stepped his training up he was sore afterwards. It was getting to the stage when it was too sore to continue.
Adam's only at three-quarter pace at the moment, he hasn't had a massive test on the injury. All the tests are to come, he's just being cautious with it. He's still got all the twisting and turning and reaction stuff to do at full pace.
He's still turning up at our games and training. It must be so demoralising for Adam but hopefully he is more than half-way to recovery.
Meanwhile, I am still looking to freshen things up. We have spoken to one or two clubs and await devlopments.
There's not a massive situation to put right and I keep saying it's only a little problem but that's been there for a long time.
It might be a fresh face or a deflected goal but we are only a spark away from being a good side.
We made an offer for Alfreton Town full-back Ryan Clarke and for Ian Herring, the captain at Chippenham Town, so we just have to wait and see what happens.
The offers are on the table and it is up to the clubs. Both players still remain a possibility.
We are just looking for hungry footballers who want to improve and play at a higher level and take the club forward because everything is geared to getting promoted and playing at the next level.
We want players who are capable of competing at least a league higher and pushing those who are already in the team to give competition. We have got competition in the squad but it's healthy to freshen things up from time to time.
Meanwhile, defender Dennis Pearce is still struggling with a groin strain and fellow utility player Danny Hodnett has yet to overcome a problem with his ankle.
They are both left out of the club's reserves encounter at AFC Telford United tonight.
