YOU just have to look at the Blue Square Bet North table to see that there are three teams who have all made a fantastic start to the season — Chester, Brackley and Guiseley.
We were narrowly beaten at Brackley and we had the fantastic comeback to draw at Guiseley and now we face Chester this week.
We went to watch them last week and you can see why they are up there at the top of the table — they have lots of firepower in their squad.
It will be a very tough game for us, but no longer do we look at Worcester City and think we will have to be lucky to win these sort of games.
We are a good side and can compete with the best teams in this division.
Injury-wise, strikers Danny Glover and Michael Taylor, as well as midfielder Matt Birley, are all carrying injuries.
Danny and Michael have a better chance of being fit for the trip to Chester so, fingers crossed, at least one of them will be available.
Mike Symons has had to shoulder the burden up front recently, but that’s football — you can’t plan when the injuries are going to come along.
Although Chester are top of the league, we go there to win and believe we are good enough to do that.
It is not always going to happen, but I believe that if you don’t go into every game looking to win it, then that is a defeatist attitude.
On the face of it, picking something up at Chester would be a great result — they deserve an immense amount of respect, but we will be going all-out for the victory.
Chester’s strengths lie in the firepower they have in the squad — they have just signed Ben Mills from Macclesfield Town, while they also have goal-scorers in Tony Gray, Nathan Jarman and Marc Williams.
Overall, we have been more consistent this season and we spoke after the Guiseley game when we came back from 3-0 down to draw 3-3 about using that result as a springboard for our campaign.
It is clear that any team that comes back from three goals down has a good spirit and togetherness in the squad.
