THE Worcester News will be the media partner of Worcester’s Big Parade, an eight-week Wild in Art sculpture trail to raise money for St Richard’s Hospice.

Worcester’s Big Parade will see around 30 elephant sculptures brighten the city streets, parks and public spaces from July 12 to September 5.

Michael Purton, editor of the Worcester News and sister titles the Berrow's Worcester Journal, Malvern Gazette and Evesham Journal, said: “We’re delighted to be partnering with St Richard’s Hospice for the city’s second public art trail, which not only raise much-needed funds for local hospice care but will also attract huge numbers of people into our city.”

Standing alongside the large fibreglass elephants, will be around 35 calves decorated by schoolchildren and community groups and displayed through city shops and Crowngate Shopping Centre during the trail.

The large fibreglass sculptures will be auctioned in October to raise funds for the care that St Richard’s provides to those living with a serious progressive illness and their loved ones.

Sara Matthews, business development manager for the hospice, said: “We’re so excited to have the city’s only daily newspaper on board for the trail once again.With the invaluable support of the Worcester News, we can ensure we spread the word about our elephant parade – and the charitable cause behind it – to as many people as possible.”
