The police are appealing for footage of a fatal hot air balloon crash.

Pilot Peter Gregory died on Sunday, June 25, after a hot air balloon crashed near Ombersley.

Investigators now want to hear from anyone who may have dash-cam or mobile phone footage of the incident.

They are also asking people not to post the footage on social media.

“In partnership with the Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB), we are appealing for video footage following an incident where a hot air balloon deflated and fell to the ground in Ombersley, Worcestershire  on Sunday 25 June,” a West Mercia Police spokesperson said.

“At around 6.20am the balloon fell to the ground in a field off Holt Fleet Road, near Ombersley Court. Sadly the pilot, 25-year-old Peter Gregory, was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene.

“Officers and the AAIB are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time and may have dash-cam or mobile phone footage of the incident to get in touch.

“Anyone with footage is asked to send it to DC Tracy Ruff at tracy.ruff@westmercia.police.uk, quoting incident number 117i of 25 June 2023.

“We would ask that the privacy of Peter’s family is respected at this difficult time, and that all footage is sent directly to us and not posted on social media.”
