FLOODING has caused travel disruption in Worcestershire.

Train passengers have been warned to expect cancellations this afternoon.

This comes after heavy rain hit the county, causing flooding between Cheltenham Spa and Worcestershire Parkway and Worcester Shrub Hill.

As a result, all lines are now blocked, National Rail has confirmed.

CrossCountry and Great Western Railway trains running between these stations may therefore be cancelled, delayed or revised.

The National Rail website states: "When flood water rises above the rails, we cannot run our services to prevent damage to the train and track.

"Flooding can also cause a short circuit and cut the power to signalling and important track side equipment."

This disruption is expected to last until 5.45pm this evening, May 9.

*UPDATE*

In the last few minutes, National Rail has confirmed that all lines are now reopened.

All lines are at full speed as of 5.30pm following flooding between Cheltenham Spa and Worcestershire Parkway / Worcester Shrub Hill.

However, trains running between these stations may still be cancelled, delayed or revised whilst service recovers.
