WALK in Covid vaccinations are available in Worcester this weekend as "Grab a Jab" weekend gets underway.

With the rise of the Delta variant of the virus, the government is pushing out the vaccine to all adults in the UK, with the Guildhall in Worcester the site for a walk-in vaccination centre on Friday and Sunday this week.

No booking is required, with as many people as possible wanted to come forward for their jab.

The walk-in vaccination clinic is available on Friday and Sunday in the Guildhall in the city centre. You do not need to book, just turn up and have your vaccine.

Please remember to bring photo I.D with you to prove your age.

The Moderna vaccine is on offer and will be available for attendees to receive their first doses only.

The clinic will be open from 10am-4pm on Friday 25 and Sunday, June 27, with the final slot available from 3:30pm on both days.

Public Health in Worcestershire, together with NHS Herefordshire and Worcestershire Clinical Commissioning Group and Worcester City Council are working to help people get their first vaccination where they haven’t been able to already.

Dr Kathryn Cobain, director of public health for Worcestershire said: "Across Worcestershire, our vaccine programme has been really successful, the numbers of people taking up the offer of a vaccine have been positive.

"We are so grateful to everyone who has come forward so far across the county.

"I am so thankful to Worcester City Council and our local NHS partners who have once again joined with us to put on a walk-in clinic at the Guildhall in Worcester.

"This should make it easier for our younger residents to get their first vaccine, as they can just drop by and be seen.

"Clinics like these make it much easier and more convenient for people come forward and to get vaccinated.

"Vaccination is so important, not only as it protects the person receiving the vaccine but it also helps to protect their loved ones and local residents."

Cllr Marc Bayliss, leader of Worcester City Council, added: “It’s vital that all adults across the country have their first vaccine dose by July 19, when the remaining Covid restrictions are lifted, so I’m very pleased to welcome people to the Guildhall to get their first jab.

"The walk-in sessions on Friday and Sunday are aimed at people aged 18-40 and there’s no need to book.

"It’s the Moderna vaccine that will be available, the safest option for that age group. So come on in – and remember to bring photo ID to prove your age."

Simon Trickett, chief executive officer for NHS Herefordshire and Worcestershire CCG said: “As the nation gears up for the removal of Covid restrictions in July, it is more important than ever that all adults get their vaccine, to protect themselves and those around them.

"I am thankful to all partners and volunteers who are supporting by taking part in the ‘Grab a Jab’ weekend at The Guildhall."

The Guildhall is in High Street and is easily accessible for those with mobility issues to enter and receive their vaccination. Parking is available nearby in Copenhagen Street.
