HOPES of a sunny weekend across Worcestershire appear to have been dashed by ever-changing weather reports.
Earlier in the week, people were preparing sun cream and shorts as forecasters predicted summer weather in some parts of the country, with temperatures rising to the high teens in Worcestershire.
But as the week draws to a close, the Met Office is forecasting highs of 14 degrees.
However, Paul Michaelwaite, from Netweather.TV, said that although we may not see the first glimpse of summer this weekend, the biting winds of recent weeks will be largely gone.
“South Worcestershire is on the border of the wet weather,” said Mr Michaelwaite.
“On Saturday it looks to be wet and on Sunday there will be some sunshine and showers. The county is on the borderline. If we can avoid the worst weather, we may see 15 to 16 degree temperatures and sun, but if we are unlucky it will be more like 12 degrees, with rain.”
This year has already seen some of the poorest weather ever recorded for the first three months. Last month was the fourth coldest March since records began and temperatures were the lowest since 1962.
Easter weekend was also confirmed as the coldest on record and temperatures plummeted to minus 12.5C in some parts of the UK on Sunday, defeating the previous record of minus 9.8C, set on Easter Monday in 1986.
Mr Michaelwaite said that despite slight improvements, there is no clear sign of any respite from poor weather.
“There are not many good signs at the moment,” he said.
“It’s going to be warmer though and I think we have beaten the really frigid cold wind, but there is nothing especially good.”
The predictions by the weatherman, who is based in Pershore, are backed up by the five-day forecast from the Met Office, which is forecasting rain on Saturday afternoon, followed by more rain on Sunday.
Monday looks slightly better, with a few sunny spells.
