MEMBERS of a Droitwich family were nearly hit by a motorcyle after its rider performed "a wheelie" on his way to a pub, a jury heard.
Michael Leeson was on a 1,000cc KTM Super Duke in the town's Meadow Way when the incident occurred.
The parents, their 12-year-old daughter and a boy of 13 from another family were on their way to a Sunday meal when they heard the sound of two motorbikes approaching, said Peter Grice, prosecuting.
He said the leading bike "pulled a wheelie" which narrowly missed the daughter and caused a gush of wind that scared the boy.
The father later confronted Leeson after he parked his machine outside the Fox and Goose in Meadow Way on July 31, 2011, Worcester Crown Court heard.
He is alleged to have sworn at Leeson and told him he was lucky he wasn't "bouncing him off the wall". He noted down the bike's registration number.
Leeson, aged 25, of Crofters Way, Droitwich, denies a charge of dangerous driving.
In an interview with police, Leeson said he was unable to state where he was at 3.15pm, the time of the incident.
But he admitted being threatened by a man who accused him of riding too close to his daughter.
The defendant claimed the man was drunk and was drinking out of a can and added: "I'm not capable of pulling stunts after riding my bike for two years."
Giving evidence, Leeson said the bike had cost him £8,500 and was capable of accelerating to 60mph from a standing start in four seconds. It had a top speed of 130mph.
He and a friend had ridden their machines to Ombersley before going on to the Droitwich pub to meet a group of friends.
Leeson insisted he had "not consciously" lifted the front wheel off the ground as he rode up Meadow Way or caused the family to run out of the way.
He said he later apologised to the father because he feared he was going to be beaten up. It was not an admission.
During cross-examination, Mr Grice claimed Leeson was on a straight road which would have been "good fun for one last blast before you reached your destination".
He said the father had questioned the other motorcyclist outside the pub about identity of the rider who "narrowly missed" his daughter. That rider had pointed to Leeson.
The trial continues.
