THE Worcestershire Hub Shared Service Contact Centre, which is run by Worcestershire County Council, Malvern Hills District Council and Worcester City Council, will reduce its opening hours from April 1.

The contact centre handles telephone and email enquiries for a broad range of services for all three councils.

The new opening hours will be Monday to Friday 8am-6pm (currently 8pm) and Saturday 9am-1pm (currently 5pm).

The decision to change the opening hours follows a review of customer demand in the contact centre.

This highlighted that call volumes between 6pm-8pm during the week and after 1pm on Saturdays were not sufficient to justify the resource required to open the centre.

Rachel Hill, head of customer services, said: "To clarify, this is not a cost-saving measure but a decision that will enable us to use the resource more effectively based on careful monitoring of customer demand.

"From April 1, the resource we currently use to open after 6pm in the week and after 1pm on Saturdays will be re-invested to support our peak times and offer a better, faster service to customers.”
