A LARGE-scale training exercise will be held by fire crews in Tenbury on Sunday.
Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service is holding Exercise Cerberus at three locations in the county a bid to test the service’s capability of responding to three challenging emergency incidents at the same time.
The simulated emergencies are a chemical incident at an industrial estate in Evesham, an explosion at commercial premises in Tenbury Wells and a contamination incident at conference facilities near Droitwich, all taking place between 10am and 4pm.
Group Commander Rob Ball said: “We want to make each of these incidents as challenging and as realistic as possible, and so we will not be disclosing too many details ahead of the exercise to ensure that those participating react in the same way they would in a genuine emergency situation.
“However, we do not want to cause unnecessary alarm as our fire appliances and specialist vehicles are seen heading to the locations involved, and so we are informing local communities in advance.”
He also said the exercise would not interfere with the force’s ability to respond to real-life fires and other incidents across Herefordshire and Worcestershire.
