TENBURY children have been able to get their hands on Worcestershire’s new children’s library card as the county marks World Book Day.
The card, which is aimed at children up to the age of 12, was launched by libraries and learning manager Kathy Kirk and Councillor Liz Tucker.
The card has been designed by Liz Pichon, author of the popular Tom Gates children’s book series and winner at the 2012 National Book Award. Ms Pichon has included characters from the books in her design.
Across the county, children have been able to watch a video created by her especially for Worcestershire, in which she discussed the thoughts and ideas behind the card as well as showing the children a sneak preview of illustrations for her upcoming fifth book.
Kathy said: “The children were really excited and keen to be the first to receive this brand new card.
"Children across the county have loved hearing from Liz about how she designed the card and we are very proud to have this special card for children in Worcestershire.”
