SIR – I expect that people are getting sick and tired of hearing about the disabled parking spaces being discussed continually in the Worcester News.

But I feel that as we are paying the council loads of money, we do not expect them to waste it as they seem to do on a regular basis.

I wonder if someone from the council could explain to me and many other people why they find it necessary to spend thousands of pounds on putting extra disabled parking bays in the car park at the Corn Exchange when there are two taxi ranks – one in Queen Street for six taxis and another in St Nicholas Street for at least four taxis – that are and, as far as I can remember, have never been used by the taxis that continually clog up the town centre and Foregate Street outside the station.

Surely, just painting ‘disabled’ over the taxi markings on the ranks that are never used would be a lot cheaper than spending the thousands that they are discussing by putting the new disabled bays in the car park at the Corn Exchange.

As a result they would not lose all the revenue they are complaining about losing.

I am interested to hear the council’s reply.
