SIR – Another high profile public figure has been accused of a serious crime. Dominique Strauss-Kahn, the former head of the IMF, may or may not be guilty.
The power the IMF wields is frightening. It tells poverty-stricken African countries to tighten their belts and manage with less than nothing.
European workers are told that they must make do and generally accept a substantial drop in living standards. It’s the same message that we hear all the time.
Yet this man was arrested at his hotel paying $3,000 a night.
This sickening hypocrisy is seen and heard in the culture of greed, excess and patronisation which now pervades sections of society.
Just look at the worlds of football and cricket.
What has happened to fairness, justice and honesty?
They are virtues ridiculed by the media through dross TV shows and arrogant media stars.
