SIR – Well, Worcester has done it again.

What were the planners on when they designed the new library?

The roof looks like an old-fashioned cover for a firegrate and, when the sun shines on it... well, words fail me. It nearly blinds you from the glare.

I am not a religious soul, but did the planners stop to think what it would look like with the cathedral behind it?

The view from the racecourse is dreadful with this gold roof glaring at you and the cathedral’s lovely structure fighting for attention in the background.

It looks like a spot ready to explode. Please, planners, take it off and start again with something more in keeping with our city.

We are a cathedral city after all.
