SIR – The recent invasions by travellers at Droitwich and Worcester have a common feature.

No local MP nor councillor availed themselves of the photo opportunity of standing on the piles of rubbish and announcing what they were going to do about it.

This is a national problem made worse by our politicians who have failed to correct the faults in human rights, planning and health and safety legislation, virtually abandoned border controls and dumped the problem on individual landowners.

If you have never experienced the problem it takes time to react.

Paying offenders to move on encourages repeat trespass elsewhere.

Instant action by the police or council with the impounding of vehicles seems to be one solution.

What solution do the politicians have?
