SIR – We are hearing a lot about superinjunctions or ‘gagging orders’ in the national media.
These are made by the wealthy, powerful and famous to protect their ‘good names’.
Unfortunately, the majority of us would never be able to spend vast amounts of money on the law that provides this immunity from truth and honesty.
These laws protect the arrogant rich from the truth about them being seen.
Once again we see laws designed to protect those with wealth from being held accountable for their actions.
Many of these people crave veneration, adulation and power – but on their terms.
The ruling class once again ignores the vast swathe of people in this country who have always worked hard and made the country prosper and yet have no recourse to the law.
They cannot acquire legal aid and they cannot pay the vast fees required by the legal system so they follow the rules and grin and bear the many injustices they see around them.
Unfortunately, this has spread to the ballot box where little change is possible. A consequence of this is a rise in selfinterest politics, which we see even in this city.
