SIR – Regarding Peter Alcock’s letter (Worcester News, May 5) responding to your picture of the disgusting state of St Andrew’s Gardens in Worcester. As far as the question of more bins or more emptying, I feel that the situation would not improve much.
Even twice as many bins would not alter things a great deal. No, the real answer is to educate the litter louts, but as that would be virtually impossible, the next best thing would be to fine the culprits, with a period of supervised litter cleaning or other work, in full view of the public.
There should be no need for council debate. The law on fining already exists.
Go ahead and use it.
