SIR – Media reports from across Britain reflect the concerns about immigration so frequently expressed on this page.
The big question, however, is why so many of our big employers in hospitality, land work, food preparation and packing, health and social care need labour from overseas. (Don’t take my word for it, check it out for yourselves).
Reasons could be to do with wage rates, job skills, training, or unpopularity of certain types of work.
I don’t know, but we do need to know about the demand side of the equation to understand what is going on.
