SIR - By all means let us give due publicity to the name of Elgar but perhaps we could be a little more discreet than has hitherto been the case.

I cannot help thinking that new arrivals to the Faithul City at Shrub Hill Station must feel aghast at being confronted by that concrete monstrosity prominently named Elgar House. I can think of nothing less evocative of the music of a truly great composer. In fact the only connection that seems to come to mind is that this hideous structure probably ruins the view of the city Sir Edward would have enjoyed from his former home at Marl Bank on Rainbow Hill.

JOHN HINTON,

Worcester.
