SIR - In their usual anti- EU bluster, Mark Starr blamed the EU for controlling Britain's imports and Jack Kinsman resurrected the Falklands War just to snipe at the French for selling Exocet missiles to Argentina. Is that pathetic or what?
Mark Starr should realise that supermarkets sell us a variety of goods cheaply. They retain their profit margin, because they are squeezing the British farmers' production costs. In the current global economic climate, supermarkets can even import more cheaply from abroad and no British government would dare to legislate against the so-called free market.
Judging by the amount of foreign cars on British roads, car ownership is another aspect of Britain's imports. Over the years, the shrewd British motorists voted with their feet and bought foreign- made cars. I wonder how does Mr Starr propose to control this particular import?
As for Jack Kinsman, let he who is without blame cast the first stone. I believe during the Falklands conflict a former RAF officer worked and advised the Argentinean military. Also, British arms dealers are equally indirectly responsible for the death of European aid workers and news reporters in countries caught up in civil wars.
