SIR - I would like to reply to the recent letter from Anthony Ness about the changes to the playground in Fort Royal Park.

The changes are part of an ongoing programme of maintenance and improvements by the city council. However, the priorities for the improvements have been identified by local residents. New equipment for very young children is to be installed in the near future. The Friends of Fort Royal Park represent local residents, and liaise with the city council to negotiate priorities for improvement and the manner in which these improvements are to be made. There are more than 60 members of the group, but we are always looking for more people who are passionate about the park and its benefits to the community. If Mr Ness or anyone else wishes to join the group, contact myself on 359565 or Steve Williams on 355359.

HELEN FORD,

Secretary, Friends of Fort Royal Park.
