Sir – Regarding George Cowley’s letter (Worcester News, July 24) and LMR Presley’s response.
The Rolling Stones were great with Brian Jones and his replacement Mick Taylor – but haven’t made a decent record since Ronnie Wood joined in 1975. Lulu modelled for Freemans catalogue and has been singing Shout forever.
But Dusty! Dusty Springfield was the best white soul singer Britain has ever produced, inducted (by long-time fan Elton John) after her untimely death in 1999, into the American Rock n Roll hall of fame. Her 1969 album Dusty in Memphis is regularly voted in countless top 10 lists as one of the best albums of all time. Her voice is timeless. So don’t include Dusty with Lulu, Cilla, Sandie and all the other 60s Brit girls please.
