SIR - Mr Spiteri calls the High Street revamp a waste of taxpayers' money. I personally miss the trees, but welcome the removal of uneven paving-slabs, and the ample provision of seats for us oldies. I sometimes sit for an hour or more in the High Street, just observing the passing crowds - it is more entertaining than TV.
