SIR – David Cameron expresses “concern” about the absence of anything in the Queen’s Speech to deal with expenses fraud by MPs – which is rich coming from the party that gave us Duck House Gate!
But it’s good news for Mr Cameron because he may have been too busy shopping and house swapping to realise that in 2001 honourable members passed an amendment to the “Prevention of Corruption Act” which reads: “A public official who does any act in relation to his office for the purpose of corruptly obtaining a gift, consideration or advantage shall be guilty of a criminal offence”.
So when will we start hearing about criminal charges and see some of these “honourable members” facing justice then?
Or are they above the laws we have to obey?
JIM EVANS,
Worcester.
