SIR – Michael Foster MP accuses the Conservatives of believing in “free market dogma” but the fact is that New Labour has exactly the same belief.
Michael Foster also has the audacity to claim that his Conservative opponent “won’t stand up to the cuts (to front-line public services)”. Gordon Brown has already said that he will make cuts to public services. Indeed, cuts are being made to the probation service, which supervises people who have committed offences – some of whom are of high risk to the public. Is Michael Foster too busy sniping at the Conservatives to see that the public will be put at risk if money is not made available to the probation service?
