SIR – I read in the Worcester News of the case of a Muslim taxi driver who was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment for beating his wife.
This case highlights the potential problem of Sharia law.
A domestic case like this would have the potential to slip under the radar by being sorted in a Sharia court. A wife-beating taxi driver would still be picking up your wife or daughter as they plied their trade around the city. If people want equality then let us ring out the words: “One law, one land, one people.”
No doubt in the scramble for votes at the next general election the Government will promise anything to everybody and Sharia law will be promised to gain the Muslim vote.
Let’s hope this nod towards potential wife-beating is not how Labour think.
