SIR – Re: Parking in St John’s. Many towns and cities get around the sort of problem endured by the long suffering residents of St John’s by imposing resident-only parking zones or by issuing resident-only parking badges.
Not a difficult solution, surely?
But the council is probably loathe to upset the students and staff – funding their no doubt lucrative golden nest egg. Isn’t enough enough? This city just can’t cope with more students, adding to the ever-increasing number of drunks and others causing anti-social behaviour.
The solution? Close the pubs at 11pm, the clubs and take-aways at midnight and let the decent residents and emergency services have a respite from the constant agro from this minority, and the seagulls.
