Sir – If ever there was a need for another pelican crossing it must be at the south-east corner of Cripplegate Park connecting across to Worcester bridge.
Recently, trying to cross the endless stream of rush hour traffic, a fellow pedestrian and I had to resort to holding a hand out and stepping into the stream of slow-moving cars in order to get across.
When trying to cross at other times you have to run the gauntlet of the Grand Prix start from the two sets of lights by McDonald’s in Hylton Road.
You face a similar problem except, rather than 15mph, the traffic is doing at least 30mph and often more in the race to get to the chicane at the first turn on to the bridge.
