SIR – Your editorial, ‘Will parking rules solve the problem?’ (November 3) closed with the words, “The solutions themselves have to be implemented and policed by the local authorities.”
Unsustainable housing development has made Worcester’s traffic a nightmare! Everybody knows Worcester’s roads cannot cope with more traffic and parking, yet those who manage our affairs are planning on dumping thousands more houses here. Why?
Car chaos reigns at the university. It reigns at our new hospital. And it reigns at the county council, which has the biggest car park in Worcester. And let’s not forget the Arboretum.
Surely all that must now be placed at the door of the county highway chiefs? Aren’t they paid to plan and anticipate?
How come our city and county councils can build a hospital, a university and a county council headquarters, all apparently without sufficient parking spaces?
Why should the people of Worcester have this sort of chaos perpetually inflicted upon them across our entire city? Who is responsible for these disasters? Shouldn’t some heads roll?
