SIR – Further to the letter from Sarah Veall (November 7), I also have had experience of EU regulations with regards blood donation.
Earlier this year I underwent internal camera investigations in hospital. Luckily nothing was found to be wrong with me. Because of this I was not allowed to donate blood for six months.
I could understand if something was found to be wrong with me – but just because I had undergone investigations I was classed as being at risk for the next six months of contracting something! Surely two-three months would have been long enough to check if this had happened? My time is soon up and I can start donating again.
