SIR – Regarding the front page, Wednesday, October 28 – get the swine flu jab? No thank you.

I have certain issues with vaccines, their constituents being the big one. Check out the constituents of the swine flu jab and draw your own conclusions. The British vaccine is called Pandremix. Aids has killed more than 25 million people since the beginning of the 1980s.

It is classified as a pandemic by the World Health Organisation. Almost 30 years and billions of research dollars later, the only current likely hope for a potential vaccine is being developed by the US military, of all people.

Currently, we have a mild influenza strain discovered, declared a pandemic, and researched to almost the point of inoculating the planet, within six months!

I realise HIV and swine flu cannot be compared biologically and scientists already have plenty of experience with different strains of flu. But it seems incredible that Aids continues to hoover up funding, but with minimal impact. On the other hand, vaccinations for swine flu were designed, sent to trial, and ready to jab before the virus’s first birthday.

When taking the obvious haste into consideration, can the vaccine be the safe, effective treatment manufacturers and the Government say it is?
