SIR – Growing families will always need houses, says David Barlow, Letters, October 23.

What he is saying and implying is bonkers.

Labour has poured millions of people into our nation. He wants more farmland concreted over to house a population of 100 million by about 2050, when we can only feed 25 million from our farms. Such huge growth and development will raise the carbon emissions, which are destroying the world’s climate. That will accelerate climate change, which will wreck global agriculture, as is happening in East Africa.

It’s not more houses we need, it’s millions fewer people.
