SIR – I refer to your recent articles on the park and ride. From the data published there are less than three car drivers on each Perdiswell park and ride bus, and less than 10 passengers. We are told that 410,000 passengers are carried annually by Perdiswell park and ride and that an average of just 191 motorists use this site each day.
Perdiswell and Sixways have cost £10 million in tax payers’ money to build. Perdiswell looses £350,000 a year. Include Sixways and it’s £700,000 of our money. No wonder councillors are cutting care for our old!
While it is claimed 410,000 travel by Perdiswell park and ride annually, 150 million travel around our city by car. This shows how useless park and ride is!
Councillor Derek Prodger says the “services will represent real convenience and value”. He’s wrong. The park and ride is a total waste of our money. The real ticket price should be £9.37. Charging just £3.50 means the people of Worcester are making a loss of £5.87 on each ticket issued. The park and ride is a continuing disaster. I am surprised Coun Prodger is attempting to flog such a dead turkey!
