SIR – I see Mike Ashton, chief executive of Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce, is trying to justify the salary of the housing chief, which is way over the top for a rent collector. If they can afford salaries like that, people paying rent are paying far too much.
For the same money you could take 10 youngsters off the dole or build five affordable homes and still have enough money for the chief to have a decent salary. Mike Ashton says Sanctuary is a social enterprise and this means they have more money to invest in developing homes for the community. I say if they stopped paying silly money to the greedy at the top they’d have even more money to invest in housing.
