SIR – During the Second World War, my family was evacuated to Worcester where my father worked for the Air Ministry.

My eldest sister was a nurse at Ronkswood Hospital, my youngest sister joined the Land Army and I joined the Worcestershire Regiment. I worked at Worcester Windshields, as an inspector.

I stayed with the Nenbrook family, Arthur and his wife and two daughters Hilda and Mary. Both were at school in those days.

After the war, we all moved back to London. I married and we as a family had two children, moved to South Africa where we lived for 42 years and I returned three years ago to Britain.

Before we left, Hilda came to see our family and I have always since wondered what happened to them.

Recently, I made contact with the Worcestershire Regimental Museum Trust for a cap badge for November 11 and they also gave me details of all the Nenbrooks in the telephone directory. I wrote to each one, asking if they knew of Hilda and Mary. Only one replied and they did not know of either.

The Nenbrooks were very kind people and made me feel at home during the time that I was with them.

I hope I may receive a reply to this letter from either Hilda or Mary – they would be in their early 70s.
