SIR – The correspondence on these pages regarding the Powick roundabout appears to highlight various causes, mostly blaming drivers coming from different directions to those writing the letters – though very few offer solutions other than the application of strict traffic laws.

I recall you recently showed local authority figures for traffic flow through this junction.

What have they done with the figures? Have they compared them with other areas that have eased their problems in similar situations?

I lived in Swindon for many years and started driving there in the mid- 1960s, so drove through the development of the town’s roundabout culture, the most famous of which is the Magic Roundabout, formerly county islands – a very busy intersection that used to be a nightmare to cross prior to the introduction of this multimini- roundabout.

The area and layout of the Swindon Magic Roundabout is comparable to the Worcester Powick problem spot. I would suggest the local authority give some consideration to using this as a blueprint to solving this ongoing problem.

Google Swindon Magic Roundabout for pictures, reports and videos. It’s interesting and believe me the traffic flows.

G BRAY, Worcester.
