SIR – I would like to comment on the letter by D E Margrett (November 27).
In the last week the pound sterling has made gains against the dollar or euro. Computer trading here in Europe and the USA has not suffered so much. I don’t think it is inevitable that we will have to accept the euro. If the euro was such a fantastic thing why would Ireland, France and the Netherlands feel it was not that good.
The people who put the wreaths on the war memorial felt that those names on that memorial gave their lives for the freedom of this country and they feel that successive politicians over the last 40 years are giving our freedom away. They have to make a protest in whatever way they think will make an impact, because the Government will not by not giving us a referendum.
JOHN NORWOOD,
Kidderminster.
