SIR – I wholeheartedly sympathise with the editorials you have written about the tragic case of Baby P and share the sense of anger and powerlessness many people feel about the cowardly and sadistic behaviour of those who should have been offering him love and proper care.
But persecuting social workers and doctors, and sacking politicians and senior managers is pure witch hunting and scapegoating.
It`s been done over and over again with tragic case after tragic case and all it really achieves is making us feel better while changing absolutely nothing about the vile nightmare society which exists in our inner cities.
Give it a few months and the same people who are screaming that “something must be done” will be banging on about “snooping social workers” and the “human right” of members of our sad underclass to “privacy”
and protection from the “prying eyes”" of our “police state”.
Until we face the truth about the secretive sordid Britain around us there will be many more Baby Ps to come.
And a million more social worker and police personnel will not change anything until we face those facts.
JIM EVANS,
Worcester.
