SIR – The nearer I approach that final end the more I resent how so many of us are forced to die in a hospital bed.
Of course, if we are critically ill and need medical attention – but why when we are just slipping away?
My mother was lucky enough to pass away peacefully in her nursing home – no pain, no trauma and excellent care.
For my father, well, he died in great pain in the intensive care unit, after my mother and I had been told to go home as all was well.
LUKE ALBARIN,
Worcester.
