SIR – I saw the story of the four men who travelled to Worcester from Wales for a drunken night out and finished up involved in violent altercations.

The judge let them off because they would be missed by their women and they showed remorse.

Remorse, yes, but not for what they had done – but for the fact they had been caught doing it.

Then, further on, I read that the city council licensing committee has granted a pub in New Street a licence until 5am!

So another drunken trail of destruction on the roads out of the city and the residents on Hylton, Henwick and London roads will be affected and have to suffer.

There is far too much irresponsible behaviour and violence caused through stupid licensing laws.

RICHARD BIRD,

Worcester.
