SIR – I really don’t wish to prolong the subject of post office closures, however in reply to Peter Luff’s letter (Letters, November 24), may I just remind him that it was his Conservative Party along with Labour and the Liberal Democrats who gave a ‘yes’ vote for the break-up of the Royal Mail, resulting in the subsequent closure of our post offices.

The only party to vote against were UKIP. Yes, this Labour government is responsible for the removal of several of the sources of revenue from the Post Office but Mr Luff’s party are instrumental in their having the freedom to do so.

TONY EAVES, Worcester.
