SIR – I note that Mr Foster’s survey suggests eight out of 10 constituents want the ring road completed. Before we accept or reject its results could we have some more information about it?
I completed that survey and gave my opinions but had no facts on which to base those opinions. Who compiled it? How were the respondents chosen? What independent body oversaw it to ensure its fairness and scientific accuracy?
I’m afraid we all too easily accept that a survey is a valid contribution to a debate. In reality it is not necessarily any such thing.
Before we are blindly led to the destruction of a beautiful part of Worcester – if a road were to be driven through Claines towards Hallow – could we have the results of the surveys that show demand for such a road along with the cost and infrastructure implications. Until we have those facts we are all just airing personal opinions.
Without the facts to underpin them they are but just full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.
J MAHONEY,
Worcester.
