SIR – I have always promoted and supported a one-way traffic system for Newtown Road.
The traffic flow, especially between 8am and 9am, stretches from Sherriff Street to Ripon Road and already demands this.
The ludicrous suggestion to route park-and-ride traffic from Sixways down Newtown Road is laughable if it were not serious.
The traffic through Warndon Villages, heading for the hospital provides further jamming and frustration and to take up more of our open spaces for bus lanes is not acceptable.
We must make better use of the roads we have, supplemented by a return of the railway halts.
Look at the motorway hard shoulders being used and in Lincoln.
They can change their lanes from two to three and reverse flow in peak times (an idea for Barbourne perhaps).
MIKE FRANCIS,
Worcester.
