SIR – Well, after an absence of three years we finally have some of our traditional Christmas lights back in the High Street in Pershore and I can assure you that they are very much a welcome sight. I was thrilled with the large amount of people who made the effort to come out to support this year’s grand switch on. I do have to say that after all the health and safety red tape, I was relieved not to see the bulbs encased in bubble wrap! I hope Pershore Town Council continue to strive to ensure the return of all of our lights next year as Bridge Street looks like the black hole of Calcutta and the traders past Tolley’s Jewellers must be feeling like the forgotten poor relations. It’s bad enough that the town has already been segregated by these ridiculous ‘enhancements’ that we had forced upon us and I think every effort should be made to unite the whole of the town – not just the bits that our elected representatives seem to think are important.
TRUDY BURGE
Pershore.
